Jan Potocki's "The Manuscript found in Saragosa" is written using the pattern from 1001 Nights. It's a vast history, made up of short tales.
A captain in the Wallon guard, young Alfons van Worden crosses France, in order to get to the king of Spain. During an endless journey, he has
numerous adventures:he is forsaken by the servants in a wild, deserted county, he finds an inn where is visited by two Musliim sisters who pretend they are his cousins, but turn out to be demons.
After a love night, Alfons wakes up under two people that have been hanged. He sets out and, in his journey, meets people who had similar extraordinary experience .
At the end of the second millenium, humanity's problems bear a single name: the conflict between the representatives of the three monotheistic religion:the christians, the jews and the muslims.
SARAGOSA talks about hope and illusion. About the hope that life is no illusion and about the illusion that we can change reality, that man can control the world and his own destiny.
