Press reviews

The particularity of Schwab’s literature consists of the fact that it is born out of words, it lives and is formulated through words. It is not the meaning, but the form of the words that renders the particularity of the text. It is a language of the subconscious, that brings forth psychic forces hidden within ourselves. Schwab’s dramaturgy is a brutal gesture, as if someone would grab you and force you to look into the mirror and tear off your skin, so that you can see your real self.
… He has brought into literature the abject, the embarrassing and the monstrosity without making his art abject, embarrassing or monstrous. He brought together German expressionism and literature. He wrote in a manner we do not even dare to dream.
Dan Stoica
You must see “People’s Annihilation” if not for the cynical humour , much appreciated by the audience, or for the firm stage-direction or the actors’ natural style of acting, at least in order to get an idea of the performance.

Sorin Militaru’s staging of the Austrian playwright Werner Schwab’s “People Annihilation or My Liver Is Pointless” got without any difficulties over the huge difficulties generated by the violence of the text (at the level of both the language and the action) and had good impact on the audience and critics, as well.
